Setting up a Sangfor solution with Supermicro servers
To configure a Sangfor solution with Supermicro servers that meets the requirements of 6 nodes, 2048 GB of RAM per node, SSD storage, and a total of 192 cores, you can use the Supermicro SYS-221H-TNR server model or a similar model from the SuperServer series.
Configuration details per node
1. Server
- Model: Supermicro SYS-221H-TNR. This server is ideal for hyperconverged and virtualization solutions due to its high-density design and expandability.
2. Processors
- Total Cores: 192 cores are required in total, distributed across 6 nodes.
- 192 cores÷6 nodes=32 cores per node.
- CPU Model: Two Intel Xeon Gold 6430 processors can be used, as each has 32 cores, for a total of 64 cores per node. While the request calls for 32 cores per node, using two 32-core processors allows for better load distribution and future scalability. Additionally, Intel Xeon CPUs deliver excellent performance for demanding workloads.
3. Memory (RAM)
- Amount per node: 2048 GB (2 TB).
- Modules: 16 modules of 128GB DDR5 RDIMM memory at 4800MHz can be used.
- 16 modules×128 GB=2048 GB.
4. Storage
- SSDs (Data Storage): Ten (10) 10TB NVMe PCIe 4.0 drives. These high-capacity, high-performance SSDs are ideal for read/write-intensive workloads.
- SSDs (Cache): Two 7.68 TB NVMe PCIe 4.0 drives. Used to accelerate storage performance.
5. Networks
- Network Connectivity:
- 2 x 25GbE SFP28 ports for the data network.
- 1 x 1GbE port for management (IPMI).
